When it comes to jumping, most people have two main options: A bounce house or a trampoline. So which one is better? The answer depends on what you plan to use it for.
Bounce House Safety
If you want a jumping device to entertain children during a special event -- such as a birthday party, church picnic, or block party -- a bounce house is probably your best option. The biggest benefit of a bounce house is its safety. Bounce houses are composed of inflatable plastic, so they have soft walls and floors. The protective walls also prevent children from flying out of the bounce house, avoiding injury.
Bounce House Entertainment Value
A bounce house also usually features an entertaining design, such as images of children's favorite cartoon and movie characters, or popular themes such as a castle or fort. Kids love playing inside a bounce house because it allows them to use their imagination.
Bounce House Rentals
Perhaps the biggest distinction between a bounce house and a trampoline is that bounce house typically are rented, whereas trampolines are usually purchased. Not many companies are willing to rent a trampoline due to the increased risk of injury. They aren't willing to risk that kind of liability, even if they are fully insured and bonded. Bounce houses, on the other hand, are much safer and offer a much lower risk than trampolines. Children can plan in them for hours and will never experience the slightest injury.
Benefits of Trampolines
Despite their danger, trampolines are fun to jump on -- but usually only for older children or adults. They provide an excellent cardiovascular workout and there are even organized trampoline competitions in which athletes can compete to show off their jumping prowess.
The bottom line is that if you are looking for a fun and safe way to entertain kids, rent a bounce house. But if you are looking for a good workout for grownups, buy a trampoline.
